Audio Podcasting
Participants use digital audio technology to create an original podcast around the predetermined technology theme. The preliminary audio piece must be more than one minute and less than five minutes; semifinalists complete an additional on-site podcast challenge within 36 hours.
Theme
The current technology theme is posted on the TSA website under Themes & Problems.
For Washington’s 2026–27 state season, WTSA lists “The Debate Desk”: create an audio podcast presenting multiple perspectives on a controversial topic in STEM, society, education, health, or the environment.
Washington deadlines currently listed by WTSA are January 21, 2027 for the qualifying audio submission and March 18, 2027 at 5:00 p.m. for the podcast and portfolio early entry.
